We completely remove all Apple software, and the physical hard drive, and install Linux and offer all of the same operational features as our HTPC systems. You lose compatibility with iTunes and Apple Features in exchange for improved performance, and get the coolest running AppleTV. Software runs from a Memory stick connected to the rear USB port. It is normal for some Apple TV units to get hot enough to fry an egg on. This elaiminates most of the heat issue.

5) Memorystick Add-on- $1200 Pesos A simple, user installable memory stick that plugs into the rear USB port of your AppleTV. Leaves AppleTV software intact for any AppleTV features you currently use such as iTunes.. Simply shut down your Apple TV , insert the memory stick in the rear USB port and start up the Apple TV. It is normal for some Apple TV units to get hot enough to fry an egg on, and this solution will not improve that problem. We recommend this solution only for cool environments.
